
Select the table tools design tab on the ribbon. click the drop down arrow beside automatic color in borders tab, choose the one you like in the list or click more color to customize it. then select borders and shading… in the drop down list. click home tab, find the button of borders in the lower right corner of paragraph section.

custom colors and colors on the standard tab are not updated if you later. use pen color to change the color of the border if you want more color options, click more border colors, and then either click the color that you want on the standard tab, or mix your own color on the custom tab. select one of the following in the draw borders group.

click the cursor on any cell borders to which you want to apply the chosen. once you select a “border style”, the “border painter” tool automatically turns on. select a border style from the drop down box of “theme borders”. Make sure the “design” tab is active and click “border styles”.

this window has two tabs standard, and custom. a new window will open with more colors but they will still be limited. the usual color window will open showing you the different shades and colors in the current color scheme.
